Atea Listed Among Europe's Climate Leaders 2025

Press release 2025-04-25

(OSLO, NORWAY) Atea is honored to announce its inclusion in the 2025 Europe’s Climate Leaders list, published by the Financial Times in collaboration with Statista. This marks the fourth time that Atea has been recognized for its progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity, and the third consecutive recognition since the rating started in 2021.

The 2025 Europe’s Climate Leaders list evaluates companies based on their Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity, which measures emissions relative to revenue, from 2018 to 2023. The list also considers transparency and performance in Scope 3 emissions, which occur throughout the value chain, as well as assessments by climate standard-setters such as CDP and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

"Being recognized for the fourth time as one of Europe's Climate Leaders is a testament to our  ongoing efforts to address climate change. We look forward to working even closer with our customers and partners in reaching new targets," stated Steinar Sønsteby, CEO of Atea.

Key initiatives in Atea's climate strategy include:

  • In 2024, Atea updated its previously set SBTi target from well below 2°C in 2018 to align with the 1.5°C scenario and set a net-zero emissions target.
  • Establishing a clear path to net-zero emissions, including publishing a detailed transition plan.
  • Promoting the reuse and recycling of IT equipment by offering take-back services to our customers for more than a decade, and creating a methodology to measure savings from the reuse of IT equipment.
  • Atea is committed to maintaining transparency in our climate governance and ensuring strategic implementation by adhering to globally recognized standards such as IFRS S2, SBTi Net-Zero standard, GHG Protocol, EU Taxonomy and CSRD.
  • For the second consecutive year, Atea received an 'A' rating from CDP for its leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change.
